If you've been reading GDT for a while, you'll know that the yearbook has become a bit of a tradition for us, but we've never quite had a year like 2020 to look back on!

Despite the many challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown at us, we have seen an incredible level of resilience in the defence community, with armed forces and companies alike rallying to support the pandemic response effort. This is only one of the stories we look back on here.

We also revisit some of our favourite longer reads from the past year, from exciting developments in uncrewed vehicles for land, air and sea, to the story that became the very reason we're now using the term 'uncrewed' instead of 'unmanned' in a bid to contribute to the phasing out of gendered language in defence.

Join us as we look back on 25 years of GPS, new satellite projects, the UK's carrier strike group plans, a new direction for the US Marine Corps, transport drones for the US Air Force, NATO EW investments and more.

Happy holidays from the GDT team - stay safe and keep reading in 2021!
