Dassault-Tata pact to boost India’s aerospace manufacturing
French aerospace manufacturer Dassault Aviation has signed four production transfer agreements with India’s Tata Advanced Systems Limited for the construction of Rafale fighter fuselages in India. As part of the collaboration, Tata Advanced Systems will establish a facility in Hyderabad, which will be dedicated to producing Rafale components. Production will include the lateral shells of the rear fuselage, the entire rear section, central fuselage, and the front section.
Blackned, Nokia forge alliance for German tactical networks
Blackned, majority-owned by Rheinmetall, has signed memorandum of understanding with Nokia to develop advanced deployable tactical networks for use by the German defence forces. The collaboration will see the amalgamation of Nokia’s expertise in 5G technology with Blackned’s proficiency in the digitalisation of defence systems to create advanced tactical communication solutions for ground-based military operations. Both companies have agreed to combine their product and solution offerings to conceive a bespoke communication system.
Qatar’s Milaha and Fincantieri partner
Milaha, also known as Qatar Navigation Q.P.S.C., has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri. The MoU sets out a cooperative framework that includes marine services, project management, and technology integration. The agreement is part of a wider Qatari national development programme, focusing on strengthening the maritime sector’s self-reliance. In 2024, Fincantieri signed an MoU with the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces focused on naval education and training.
EC gives go ahead for GCAP joint venture
The European Commission has given the green light to the formation of a business joint venture (JV) between BAE Systems, Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement, and Leonardo to develop a sixth-generation combat aircraft. The three parties reached an agreement for the JV in December 2024. This JV will serve as the prime contractor and lead systems integrator for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) throughout the product’s lifespan, which is anticipated to extend beyond 2070.
