Rheinmetall wins order for artillery propelling charges
Rheinmetall has secured an $80m order from an unidentified international customer for artillery propelling charges.
Booked by Rheinmetall Denel Munition, the order encompasses several Tactical Modular Charges, which are expected to be delivered next year.
Rheinmetall Denel Munition has developed the modular charges which are designed to propel 155mm artillery shells.
The equipment delivered will be customised to match the customer’s weapons systems and artillery projectiles. This will ensure maximum effectiveness. The modular design simplifies logistics and handling procedures in self-propelled howitzer systems.
Lockheed Martin to advance U-2 capabilities for USAF
Lockheed Martin Skunk Works has secured a contract from the US Air Force (USAF) to advance capabilities of the U-2 Dragon Lady (U-2) aircraft for the future battlespace.
Under the $50m contract, Lockheed Martin will upgrade avionics suite that modernises the aircraft’s onboard systems for the USAF.
The scope of the contract includes the designing, integration and testing of the new advanced aircraft components. The technology upgrades will also include a new mission computer designed to the USAF’s open mission systems (OMS) standard. It will allow integration of U-2 with systems across air, space, sea, land and cyber domain.
Interim fielding is expected to commence by mid- 2021.
AeroVironment to deliver Puma 3AE systems to US Navy
AeroVironment has secured a contract to deliver Puma 3 All Environment (AE) systems and associated spares for the US Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Programme.
Under the $10.7m contract, the systems delivered will be used for persistent situational awareness and protection of the forces.
The firm-fixed-price contract will deliver immediate reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA).
Delivery of the systems is expected to conclude by next month.
The majority of unmanned aircraft in US Department of Defense (DoD) inventory belong to the AeroVironment family of tactical UAS.
LMS wins contract from NAVFAC Marianas at JRM
Guam-based Landscape Management Systems (LMS) has secured a contract for environmental services at Joint Region Marianas (JRM) from Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas.
The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a total ceiling value of $25m.
Work under the task order is expected to conclude by April 2021. The contract work is to not exceed more than five years and expected to complete by April 2025.
Procured through the Federal Business Opportunities website, the contract had received two proposals.
Amentum wins position on $6.4bn US Air Force IDIQ contract
Amentum has secured a position on the US Air Force’s new multi-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract that involves delivering logistics, contingency and support services. The Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) V contract carries a maximum value of $6.4bn over a seven-year period.
Amentum will now compete for task orders associated with contingency planning, emergency construction, humanitarian support and logistics services, primarily overseas.
Persistent wins contract from USAF for WaRTAK project
Persistent Systems has secured a contract from the US Air Force (USAF) to provide new radio hardware for the convoy communications and situational awareness programme known as Wave Relay Tactical Assault Kit (WaRTAK).
Under the $25m four-year contract, the company will provide Android-loaded MPU5 smart networking devices and the Dual Push-to-Talk (PTT) system, which allows users to speak on two radio talk groups WaRTAK aims to equip USAF convoys driving in adverse environments with multi-domain communications and situational awareness.
NCI to provide IT support to US Army Futures Command headquarters
NCI Information Systems has secured a contract that involves providing key information technology (IT) support at the US Army Futures Command (AFC) headquarters in the GSA Federal Building in Austin, Texas.
The contract, awarded by US Army Information Systems Engineering Command, carries a 17-month period of performance.
NCI has already started working on the contract that involves providing command, control, communications, computers, cyber, and intelligence/information technology (C5I/IT) systems for the AFC headquarters.
Envistacom to provide satellite communications systems to US Army
Envistacom has secured a $11m task order to support US Army Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems (GTACS).
Envistacom will serve as a GTACS prime contractor and provide SATCOM systems to operate in government’s commercial communications network.
In order to support theatre reachback communications, the company will design, engineer, install and commission two SATCOM earth terminals. The new terminals will offer further capacity and resilience for all service branches to support missions and exercises within the theatre.
Kongsberg to deliver ASW sonars for Finnish Navy vessels
Kongsberg Maritime has signed a contract with Saab to deliver its Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and diver detection sonars for the Finnish Navy’s Pohjanmaa-class corvettes.
The navy is developing the vessels under its Squadron 2020 project.
Under the contract, worth about Nkr100m ($9.71m), the company will equip the corvettes with its SS2030 and SD9500 sonars which are ideally suited for deployment in shallow-water environments.
Principally developed for ASW operations, the active hull-mounted sonar SS2030 uses tracking algorithms and can detect torpedoes or other small objects in the water column.
