From 26-28 April 2022, the International Training Technology Exhibition & Conference (IT²EC) will bring the simulation and training community together under one roof at the ExCeL, London, to once again share knowledge and gain insights into the latest advancements within the military training and simulation arena.
IT²EC will bring together stakeholders from military, government, industry and academia to showcase evolving product and service solutions, monitor competitor and collaborator activities, evaluate emerging trends and technologies, network with new and existing connections and discover and shape future initiatives.
The event will be led by an overarching theme which will focus on navigating rapidly evolving technologies for training and education. With data, modelling, algorithms and simulations now a part of our daily news cycles, what were potential plans for Digital Twins and other relevant technologies are now deemed as critical. Topics such as "Train, Reflect, Learn and Train Again", the Reality-Simulation-Reality cycle and the Digital Twin approach are now recognised as fundamental enablers for robust training systems and the only cost-effective way to train with the necessary degrees of reality.
Under this theme, the show’s conference will expand on the Digital Twin philosophy, the risks of AI and the applications of Human and Machine Learning for training.
Built around the three conference pillars of ‘technologies and architectures’, ‘human factors and performance’, and ‘emerging solutions’, the conference agenda is super-charged to tap into current and emerging trends. This will include discussions about C2 and simulation interoperability and architecture, Big Data collection, analysis and results delivery, Human-Data and Human-sensor interaction, experience and behaviour, and much more.
The conference will welcome UK and international speakers across the three-day programme, with the Day One opening keynote to be delivered by Major General Richard Oppelaar, Commandant General of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.
NATO will also have a strong presence at the show as the organisation aims to explore new avenues in military training. A key discussion includes the panel on Wednesday, 27 April featuring Lars Jansson, Project Engineer, FMV; Captain Peter Lindskog, Developer of Simulation Systems for Military Training, Swedish Armed Forces; Wolfhard Schmidt, Branch Head at M&S, NATO; and Mr Bharat Patel, DSTL; who will discuss the Viking 22 Exercise: Leveraging Modelling and Simulation as a Service (MSaaS) Technology and Process. RAF Wing Commander Ruari Henderson-Begg; Dr Robert Siegfried, Chair of the NATO Modelling and Simulation Group; and Brigadier General Ilmars Lejins, Assistant Chief of Staff Joint Force Development, ACT, NATO; will also join forces on Thursday, 28 April to discuss Distributed Synthetic Training: Roadmap towards a Future NATO Capability.
What can visitors expect to see on site?
IT²EC 2022 visitors will find exciting features on site which aim to explore ambitious new solutions that could re-shape the future of training in military and civil domains. These include the return of the Disruptive Technology (DisTec) Theatre where exhibitors will present research and host live demos on topics including wearable tech, Virtual and Augmented Reality, 5G, AI/Machine Learning, Autonomous Systems/Robotics and Cognitive Enhancement.
Visitors will also be able to experience the Technology Lounge, part of the DisTec show floor experience. The lounge is entirely free-of-charge, and will give visitors the chance to take part in various experiences and demonstrations, and get hands-on experience of real-life applications, such as arson investigation, firefighter training and armed police response.
IT²EC's bustling show floor will host leading training and simulation organisations of all sizes. Exhibitors will include Lockheed Martin, SAAB, CAE, Varjo, SimCentric and MAK Technologies, among many others.
In response to COVID-19, IT²EC 2022 will follow government health and safety guidelines to ensure that social distancing and hygiene measures are in place to protect attendees.
