BAE Systems and Forterra develop autonomous AMV prototype

Global defence prime BAE Systems will work with Forterra to develop an autonomous Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle (AMV), with plans to demonstrate the concept in 2026. Curiously, there is a limited demand signal among military users for a fully autonomous capability as culture and doctrine stress the need for a human in the loop. Yet the new platform will feature Forterra’s AutoDrive full-stack autonomous vehicle system on the modular AMV chassis.

Rolls-Royce Submarines and Siemens sign MoU

Rolls-Royce Submarines and global technology company, Siemens, signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on digital optimisation. Ultimately, the companies aim to minimise time to production for Rolls-Royce technology, while reducing cost and risk within an increasingly complex engineering, manufacturing, and operational environment. In doing so, the the two will cultivate a ‘digital backbone’ that supports the full lifecycle of nuclear naval reactors. 

Oracle and Druid Software fortify Nato’s 5G networks

Nato’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Estonia has selected Oracle and its partner Druid Software for wargaming and cyber defence exercises. Under the contract, the duo will design, deploy, and secure private 5G networks to support Nato’s digital efforts. These cyber defence exercises are aimed at safeguarding critical infrastructure from potential external threats – a sore spot for European and Nato allies in a climate dominated by Russian sabotage and gray-zone missions.
