Lockheed Martin, US DoD agree major THAAD interceptor output hike

Lockheed Martin and the US DoD agreed a deal aimed at expanding THAAD interceptor manufacturing capacity, boosting annual output fourfold. The deal will increase output from 96 to 400 units per year and follows a similar deal to accelerate production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors. Since 2016, Lockheed Martin reported a rise of over 220% in deliveries of six critical munitions and plans a further increase of more than 245% for PAC-3 and THAAD systems.

Babcock, Aselsan partner to explore RAF EW training system

Babcock and defence electronics company Aselsan have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to examine the RAFs requirements for a Surface Electronic Warfare Threat (SEWT) training system. The SEWT system is included in the Next Generation Operational Training programme, which aims to bring together synthetic and live elements, as well as supporting enablers, for unified operational training delivery.

Finland secures ReArm Europe funding for defence sector

Finland has secured unspecified funding as part of the EU’s ReArm Europe programme intended to rejuvenate defence spending across the bloc. Announced in mid-February, Finland said €280m ($332m) in funding from the European Regional Development Fund and other agencies under the EU’s regional and structural policy programme will open up two “completely new policy lines” to support the country’s defence industry.

Canada and Denmark agree on expanded defence partnership at Munich Security Conference

Canada and Denmark formalised a Defence Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding at the Munich Security Conference in February, setting out enhanced collaboration in areas such as defence innovation, industrial and materiel partnerships, shared logistics, and joint activities involving personnel, training, exercises, and education.
