The government of Canada has formed a strategic partnership with MDA Space and satellite operator Telesat to develop and provide a multi-frequency Arctic military satellite communications capability for the Canadian Armed Forces. The agreement is part of the Enhanced Satellite Communication Project – Polar (ESCP-P), which is led by Canada’s recently created Defence Investment Agency. The ESCP-P is a longstanding initiative designed to improve the ability of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

US-based military shipbuilding company HII has signed a contract with Babcock International, extending their strategic partnership in the construction of the Virginia-class submarine. This contract marks the first time a Virginia class outsourced contract has been awarded to Babcock for specific work supporting HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding. Babcock is authorised to produce complex submarine assemblies for the Virginia-class Block VI fast-attack submarines at its Rosyth facility in Scotland.

Finnish firms Valmet Automotive and Patria Land have entered into a cooperation agreement for the technology transfer and production of armoured vehicles. Transfer of technology commences immediately, with manufacturing  to take place at Valmet Automotive’s plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland. The first Patria vehicle produced under this agreement will be manufactured at Valmet Automotive’s facility in H2 2026.

Lockheed Martin and Diehl Defence will explore air defence integration opportunities nto surface vessels for navies of various countries. The partnership was formalised through an MoU signed by Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch and Lockheed Martin vice president Chandra Marshall, which will evaluate the incorporation of the IRIS-T missile system into the Aegis Weapon System and MK41 and MK70 VLS.
